Our first baby is on the way and we are very excited. We have been trying to conceive a baby for two years so we are calling her a miracle baby and in two months she will be with us.

While we are waiting for her to join us in this world we have been looking around for nursery décor for her very special room. We haven’t decided what to name her and while we are looking around at the different shops we have been trying out names on each other, my husband and I in amongst the lamps, mobiles and decals we peruse our baby name books and even ask other shoppers what they think.

Here are some of our favorite nursery décor items:

# 1 nursery décor item: Winnie the Pooh nursery sticker and girls mobile – this one if for my husband, he loved Winnie the Pooh when he was a kid and I think he wants to relive some of his childhood through the nursery décor. And though I would probably never admit it to him, I think Winnie is kind of cute myself and the sad donkey well I always just want to hug him tight;

# 2 nursery décor item: Educational animals alphabet kids wall sticker decals – this brings out the elementary school teacher in me. I know from my experience as a teacher of young children that the sooner they are exposed to learning the more flexible their mind becomes and learning becomes fun, not a chore;

# 3 nursery décor item: Cloud with raindrop mobile – this is so cute, the cloud is actually plush and very soft while the raindrops tinkle very gently in the breeze. My husband doesn’t like this one he thinks it will give our daughter a phobia about going out in the rain, I think that is probably an unfounded fear;

# 4 nursery décor item: Constellation lamp night light star twilight turtle toy 3 color – this cute little night light toy is almost a must for our nursery décor and it projects stars onto the room for a great effect. In addition, the 3 different colors create various ambiences to help your child be at rest in their room. They are:

• Blue: this is for a calm mind. Blue is well known for soothing and calming and this one encourages a deep sleep;
• Green: signifies new life in nature as well as growth and it encourages rejuvenation and healing;
• Amber: signifies autumn and the setting of the sun and helps to radiate warmth.

# 5 nursery décor item: Care bears clock – this clock is a few years old but is a very sweet clock and would look great as a part of our nursery décor. The graphics of the bear’s babies in front of a fairytale castle are very sweet in pastel blues, pinks and yellows;

# 6 nursery décor item: Noah’s ark ceramic music box – Noah and all of the animals are on the deck of the ark with some dolphins frolicking in the water below them. There is a winder on the bottom that you turn and when the music plays the ark and all its inhabitants revolve;

# 7 nursery décor item: Teddy hammock stuffed animals toy net – These are a fabulous way of keeping babies soft toys neat. We already have one of these even though it is a few months before she is born and it is already full to the brim with soft toys for when she arrives and we have it just out of her reach so she cant pull it down on herself;

# 8 nursery décor item: Plush yellow duck growth chart – with this sweet nursery décor item you can track your babies growth, remember these are the years that you never get back so preserve them. Even better with this growth chart is that there is 6 photo pockets as well so that you can add pictures of your baby at the different heights;

# 9 nursery décor item: Kids bookcase shelf – lets face it one of the things that we are going to need, and heaps of it, for our nursery décor is storage space. Babies need lots of things and in order to keep on top of things it needs to be kept neat and tidy so it is easily accessible when we need it;

# 10 nursery décor item: European toile purple poms poms wooden clothes hamper – this is another storage idea for your nursery décor. The ideal thing about these is that they are very portable and can collapse and be stored on a shelf when you don’t wish to use them. A very handy addition to any nursery décor;

# 11 nursery décor item: Ceramic Animal Lamp – this piece of nursery décor reminds me of Africa and gives a bit of a different feel. With cartoon animals, a lion, giraffe and elephant this would be ideal if you would like to add a jungle/tribal feel to your nursery décor;

# 12 nursery décor item: Sleep mate white noise sound machine – if you are living in a noisy area you may want to add one of these machines to your nursery décor. They will help get baby off to sleep even on the loudest nights by cancelling out the sounds with white noise – the levels are adjustable to your requirements.
